Grandson Tyler turned 17 today. I'm sure for a least a few minutes he was the newest and youngest pilot. He soloed on his 16 birthday. He had a 241 hours, accumulated over 3 years. The examiner said his time was going to increase the average for for obtaining a license. He has 105 hours in the Taylorcraft. I was the recommending Instructor.

Re: New Pilot
Congratulations!
This thread details Tyler's first solo a year ago.
I was at Brodhead for the Pietenpol & Hatz fly-in just before Oshkosh 2014, and there was a young lad from Georgia who is doing his ticket on his Dad's (CFI) Pietenpol. Yes, he flew it up from Georgia with his Dad, 11 flying hours each way.
It's great to see youngsters learning the proper way, so well done Lloyd.

p,s, I took both him and his Dad flying in Mike Jones' Taylorcraft....a new experience for both, so they're now looking to get a Tcraft rather then a Champ. Success!
