I got some 5/8" 3003 aluminum tube thin wall (0.035" wall) from Spruce and made a new breather tube.
Here's a picture of my first attempt.
I decided to try running it straight down from the crankcase just because that's where the hole in the baffle is.
I added the 3" extension inside the crankcase. After I get some run time on the engine/airplane, I'll assess whether I need to do something else.
Tim, looks good. However, I would drill a 3/16 hole in the top side of the tube under the cylinder area. I had one that froze over years ago on my T-craft in very cold weather, and blew out the prop seal. I drilled the top side of the tube as a old timer IA told me to and have not had any problems in cold weather since. In your part of the country its probably not a factor though. Maybe some of the Alaska guys have some input. If anyone would know, they would I think since this is a common environment up there. You did a nice installation on the breather.
Yep, drill a hole and poke an awl so it won't push oil out by tweaking it up creating a small bulge in the tube that faces upwards...Looks good though. Tim
