Hey group. Just found a crack in the case of my A65. Anyone out there have a good engine or a yellow tagged case ?

Where is it cracked? It may be weldable (by an approved shop of course).

I had a crack in my C-85 case and it was welded and I have never had a problem. That was some 25 years ago and it was done by a shop in Tulsa with all the paper work done.

DIVCO in Tulsa welded a crack in my case. It is still going strong after 10 years.

I know it's not legal for a standard category aircraft, but I know of someone who had a crack welded on one without even taking the engine off the airplane on an experimental. It lasted for years too.

Divco probably has 10 sitting on the shelf, just send them a data plate and they will do a case replacement. Tim

There is a Continental SB that discribes critical and non critical areas where cracks are either allowed or cause for reject. You might be able to leave it alone till you overhaul the engine.
