Re: New barn find in ohio

Congratulations! Now you can spend lots of money and time! Stinsons are great aircraft, the most stable in flight of any aircraft of any size ever built!
I bought a BC12D in 1964 for $850 and flew it for 5 years and 500 hours. I bought my Stinson 108 in 1968 and am still flying it with more than 3700 hours in it, VFR and IFR all over the USA. Biggest mistake I ever made was selling my BC12D in 1969 for $1200. I added a 1965 Mooney M20C in 1990 and a few years ago bought a damaged BC12D to fix up for if and when I have to go Sport Pilot.
I have lots of Stinson parts as I also bought a parts plane many years ago. I converted my Stinson to an O-360 180 hp engine using an ex-Mooney engine.
There are two good Stinson groups: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Stinson/info and the Internationsl Stinson Club at: http://www.stinsonclub.org/PublicSite/index2.php

My first airplane ride was in a Stinson. When I was a little lad, the Stinson club had is annual fly-in at Minden which is where I grew up.

Pg. 14-15. I just saw the V-77 pictured on the bottom of pg 14 last week when I went to Kearney to have my plugs cleaned and gapped.

I would agree with Larry Stinsons are a great airplane ecellent usefull load and reasonable flying speeds with good handeling qualities, I had N9072K a Stinson 108-1 from 1996 untill 2001, and flew it on several long cross country flights, Florida, Kansas, Nortern Mn, and others. It always preformed beautifully but was a bit of a gas hog. I would recomend it for any that wants a good hauling cross country aircraft

a Stinson is a very under valued bird. They fly great, run great, handle great, and are a really smooth old bird when dialed in. Lot me know if ya need any help with the ol girl

Wonderful, magnificent airplane! I wish I had my medical,I'd have nice one. Yes, stable, like riding in a Cadillac! Congratulations. A beauty used to fly into dart airport from Ohio, like new! Just the cats pajamas! Maroon, interior like new also. I think some have been powered with a 180 lycoming which would be, ( I hate the term but......) AWSOME!

Well we have taken the interior out and striped one wing some lite corrosion on the trailing edge metal other then that the first wing is good, waiting on gaskets for the engine, also striping metal parts for painting as a whole the plane is in good shape it only has 1480 total time on the airframe not bad for a 1947 plane.

When ya put your intake tubes back together make sure put the rubber oring gaskets in correctly.... You would be surprised how many folks put those things in wrong and have all kinds of trouble.
