    Re: Taylorcraft altitude question...

Thanks guys for the for encouragement. It's not that I doubt the plane - it's just that no mixture control is a new concept for me.

I'm headed down next weekend to close the deal and can't wait to get it home. Hope to see some of you guys at a fly in soon.

    Thanks again,
    Danny

You could just put a mixture control in and not hook it to anything if it makes you feel better. Doesn't do anything under 5 or 6 thousand feet anyway. ;-)

I'm JOKING, I'm JOKING! Not about it not doing anything, but I would NOT put a knob in that wasn't hooked up! A lot of the young A&P/IAs would freak out, if they ever noticed.

I decided to try her out today. I went up to 10,000 ft MSL. It took a while to get there but I was able to maneuver at that altitude with no problems.

This is a pretty informative website about strombergs. I love mine. Its kinda like the Shinn brakes, simple and it works! It just takes a small bit more attention. I have to adjust the idle mixture when the seasons change on the stromberg, and occasionally adjust the brakes. easy enough!

Two hours to get to 17,000, don't think I could have got it to go much higher.
