I do a fair amount of sheet metal work, so when I recovered my 46, located it just behind the door and above the baggage area, then made a recessed part that allowed for the rear window to set inside the recessed area, just layed out a size and location that looked pleasing, then cut another small piece to go over the lexan, or whatever you want, to hold it in place, painted the small piece the same color as the rest of the fuselage, been ramp checked twice, never asked about that, hope this may help out some, zi am sure there wil be lots more re: coming, gary

Thanks, The airplane is down for restoration, so I thought that would be a good time to put them in.

They are different depending on the year or your plane. Early ones were smaller and used wood frames, later they went to metal frames and kept the "D" shape but were a little larger after the war. The late model ones were much larger and more rectangular.
What year do you have? I have drawings for the different frames.

Use the search feature. There are several good discussions about side windows, many with pictures.
