ALL RIGHT! Temporary or permanent? Where are you moving in Norfolk? Are you moving the plane too? (There are hangars available in Suffolk). Are you familiar with the area?
DETAILS! We want DETAILS! My home email is hjarrett2 at cox dot net

All I know is I will be working at the Navy base working on a tower crane, no I don't expect to move up there or the plane, the job is expected to last 2 years and
as for where I will be living I am gonna drive up there @ 1 am on july 1st and figure it out from there, the employer is paying for everything.

Thinking about it, if I am gonna be in Hank's area for 2 years I believe it would be in my best interests to move my project up there, I would have the time to work on it instead of thinking about it 13 days and then doing something 1 day and never getting anything done and then there is Hank- another bonus. So after I get my crap together up there I will if everything works out be renting a space near his.

It is SOOOOO CLOSE! I know you guys have heard it before, but the IA has looked at it and the next time he comes out we will be running the engine. After that will be the Annual and new bungees, followed by first flight. There are a lot of small cosmetic things left but nothing that will keep her from putting air under the wheels.
Right now I am having to put in some new engine control cables. Some of them got REALLY stiff in storage. Oh well, I want to put the new knobs on anyway. I have a master knob turned to match the pre war ones and just need to cast the new ones. It will fly with the wrong knobs.

You NEVER run out of things to improve on an antique!

                Hank

If I ever get her "perfect" there is always the 45, Josh's 1940 and helping Michael Koen on his if I can convince him to move it up here. Then there are the Homebuilt projects (a 1913 Taube replica and a sailplane design).

Hank, guess you didn't see the post above, as soon as I get my crap together I will be moving it up there, might take a couple of months but it's gonna happen.

Re: Hank is gonna have a new neighbor

We need to get together when you get here and I will introduce you to the airport manager at Suffolk. They have nice hangars available now with paved floors, and power provided. The floors are even high enough to not flood in storms! I may get a light washing in a real frog strangler (less than 1/4"), but NOTHING like at PVG where I had to put my mains on car ramps and the tail up on a table to keep the wheel bearings dry.
I also rent a barn in Norfolk I store the 45 in. We might be able to convince the owner to let us work on your plane there. It is CHEAP and easy to get to from the yards in Norfolk.

Is that Airport almost across the road from that lumbermill and paper plant?

Re: Hank is gonna have a new neighbor

No, that is Franklin. SFQ is about half the distance compared to Franklin from Norfolk.

You can actually get used to the paper mill smell eventually. Trust me, it takes a LOOONG time. ;-)

Hank, I just got up here, I have a crane at the Navy Hospital off Effingham st and didn't kill or hurt anyone today so looks like I will be here a while.
Is the air port you go to off of 58? if so I saw where it is.
704 905 6727 but I am busy during the day

Welcome to Tidewater Michael! Just like us to put you to work the first day.
Suffolk airport is just off 13/32/646 just south of Suffolk VA. You probably drove past Hampton Roads Executive Airport (PVG, where my hangar was always flooding) on the left as you come up 13/58. It would be just before 58 becomes I-64.
I will try and give you a call tonight.
                              Hank
