  • Forward strut enough?

    Good Day Tcrafters,
Question for the Tribe? Is the Front strut alone enough to support the wing while i get them X-rayed? I have a set of red tagged front struts to use while mine are being x-rayed. just want to make sure im not adding undue stress to the wing or airframe.

    Thanks

    No.

There is no monocoque structure, and the trailing edge will sag significantly (we did what you suggest on a razorback-covered aeroplane once, and it sagged).

I suggest you get a length of timber (2 x 4 or whatever is lying around) to support the missing strut.

Are you coming to Brodhead for the Piet/Hatz fly-in?

I don't think im going to make it this year, my vacation is still a premium, and i took the wife and kiddo to disney. I was up there most every year during 89-98 or so. Hopefully, my Piet will be done for next year too

It would be nice to see, I'm sure.

For your info, it's the weekend immediately prior to Oshkosh, so for example this year it is 26-28 July.

              Regards,
              Rob
