  • Difference in magnetos

    What is the difference in bendix magnetos SF4LN-8 to SF4L-8, I have asked a couple of friends and they don't know.

    Both turn left (counterclockwise) are 4 cylinder N is a Scintilla Design (older) have used both just fine, gary

        Both are the old box mags. I always thought that the "N" made reference to the ability of the mag to have an impluse coupling installed. I don't know if that's true,but, it sure aint needed. Those are hot little mags, they'll throw a 1/2" blue spark when spun by hand.

          As to the 1/2" blue spark all I am gonna say is that I was cussing a blue streak

            When I got "zapped" by a MAG I didn't use a single bad word. I couldn't, the fillings in my mouth were welded together.
            I also learned to fly without an airplane.
