What a beautiful project. I for one would like to see ANY more photos you have of any components, especially of the fuselage where the trim system attaches. I still have Josh's plane and need all the pictures I can get of how it goes together.

Still looking for a fuselage or a "lost papers" plane. The 41 is all done except hanging the engine and the 45 will probably be next in line unless I find someone who has a 40 to work with to restore Josh's plane. I don't plan to actually keep Josh's plane, but I want it restored like he planned to and it looks like that will require a donor plane. If you have a paperless 1940 Taylorcraft this is a great chance to bring it back as a legal restoration with paperwork. When she is done you will have a plane with some great history.

If you want a plane that already has a great head start, it looks like Mark has a fine looking start! POST MORE PICTURES!

What kind of price are you looking for?

Hank. I'm asking $4,700. At that price I'm losing quite a bit but that's how it goes. A lot of work went into restoration of the tail section with usual corrosion issues there. It's looking good now so I'll see if I can post some more photos. All the welding is very good and was done by a very experienced welder who has built several fuselages from scratch.

OK, somebody in the tribe needs to JUMP on this! What does the firewall forward look like? Got data on the fuel tanks, engine and prop? Pictures of the cowl parts and the boot?

You are most likely to get a buyer from the Clan. We know how great these planes are. Sure wish it wasn't all the way on the other side of the country. I know several people I would love to show a good project to around here. A lot of guys are dropping back from a PPL to Sport Pilot and can't keep their heavier planes. Check the local airports for slightly older guys who have out of annual planes slightly heavier than ours. They may not be flying because they are afraid of failing a medical and would love to get a LSA.

Congratulations and get him introduced to the tribe! There is a wealth of information and interest on the group.

Looking forward to watching the progress on an award winner!

Hank, on the trim system, you mean from the lever to the really small elevator? up or down?

Re: 1940 Taylorcraft BL-65 Project For Sale

That's the one. I have no idea how it is all hooked up and how the parts attach to the fuselage. I have seen the flippers on planes and my 45 fuselage even had the remains of the welds from where some kind of tube had been welded on in the tail (my 45 was built with a left over pre-war 1010 steel fuselage frame with lots of mods by the factory).
I have the paperwork for Josh's 40 now but there isn't enough fuselage left to know how it was built. It had a post war tail grafted on to the rest of the fuselage and had a post war trim system. The front was pretty badly damaged so there isn't much usable that is original. If I can find another 40 fuselage I would go back to original.

Thanks! Great pictures. Got to look for where the handle tab was on the 45.
When the new owner take it all apart it would be great if someone could trace the parts.

Working from home now and don't have a fax. I think you can scan with the fax and send the file as an attachment, at least I get a lot of stuff as attachments now that used to come as a fax.

That works great. Between the photos and the drawing we should be able to make the parts as an owner manufactured part! Just the kind of things we need.
                              Thanks
