Re: Continental A65/75 Wanted
lol, yep...had two of them and sold them both. My Cub is still running find, making no metal, using about a quart every 4-5 hours but is making a lot of valve train noise and after pulling the rocker covers I found a lot of cruddy build up. Also two cylinders at TDC have a little more play between the rocker arm and valves then I like to see. I really think my lifters are about shot or I have a worn camshaft. The engine hasn't been apart since the late 70's(encluding the top end),has only 300smoh, and sat pickled from the early-mid 80's until 2009 when it was bolted on this cub by me with 200smoh. I figured that after running it for a little while it would settle back in but the noise seems to be getting a little worse after almost 100 hours, it still holds a solid 45psi oil pressure hot at cruise and comes down to about 25-30lbs hot at idle....any suggestions. I have a daughter flying it quite a bit and hate to ground it for a long period of time because I really don't have the time or extra cash for a complete major. Would like to find something to overhaul as I can afford & find time or a runable engine to swap until I can overhaul this one. I thought about just doing a field top and replacing the lifter inserts if the cam looked okay but I really hate not to go all the way down with it simply because it has been so long since it has been apart and sat for nearly 30 years....any suggestions, ideas, or advice would be great.Last edited by crispy critter; 09-18-2012, 07:40.Kevin Mays
