I need the steering fork that fits the bottom of the rudder that the springs attach to for tail wheel steering. One arm of mine broke, can it be welded?
1949 BC12D
Thanks
Bruce
Bruce,
Some steering arms are steel and it might be possible to weld one successfully.
Other steering arms are aluminum and in that case it would be better to just replace it.
Wag Aero sells an aluminum rudder arm for $37.75 that looks exactly like the rudder arm on my BC12-D. You can get a 1 inch or a 3/4 inch shank. My weak memory says the 3/4 inch is OK, but if that won't fit you could have the shank turned down a little bit.
Thanks for the info. Mine is cast iron. It is rusted in place, there were no bolts holding it!!!!! Would like to get it out so welding won`t mess up covering. Will keep working. Will check Wag aero again.
Thanks again
Bruce
