That's what they did, it just bolts in from the back. But the stand-off looks wrong to me. Too bad, it just doesn't look right.
Its correct, identical to the one here, crude weld where you never see it, they just have the compass upside down in the housing. It will be interesting to see what it brings...
I had a correct Airpath Streamline bubble-faced compass for my L-2, slightly different than this as it was a dash mount. The welds didn't look anything like the one on Ebay. I guess it all depended upon who was doing them that day.
I have two of them. The compass is upside down in the eBay photo and both of my housings had the horrible welds. If you want an original compass for your ride, I would point out I looked for my first one about 15 years and the second one about a decade more. They are NOT easy to find. I bought the first one from the WACO museum in Ohio. I probably have about $500 and $1000 in my two (they are not cheap to overhaul either).
