    Re: Need Yokes

They are a hybrid yoke used sometime in '41. Round yoke hub and spokes, one spoke shortened and banjo style yoke mounted. They replaced the round yokes on non-Deluxe '41 Trainers, and maybe some Deluxes, as the first photo shows a Deluxe panel, and Mike says he had a Deluxe with these. I have seen one airplane in person with these, and a very few pix, including a series of old period b&w photos on ebay a few years ago showing these yokes in a non-Deluxe '41 Trainer. The airplane with the Cessna panel (also registered as a Deluxe) is for sale on barnstormers now. They are very rare. If I ever found a pair of these I would use them on my early '45 project.

      Hank.
I see in this old post (2011) a photo of my control yokes.
The one in the upper left.
What was in the center of those yokes?

        Re: Need Yokes

I think there were at least two different late model wheels (maybe three). All that I have seen were cast but one was a bare casting that was painted with no logo. One had a plastic logo glued to the front face of the Taylorcraft "wing" and the third was padded in the middle part and had a Taylorcraft "Wing" that pushed into the padding. I don't know if any were "home made" but if they were they did a REALLY nice job! Most I have seen looked like the one in my photo with nothing in the center, but that could have been because the padding wore out and was removed. The one with no padding and a logo could also have been one where the padding was removed and the logo put on without it.
Can't find a photo of the one with no padding with the logo wings, but it was really nice. The wings were not in a rectangle, just the wings with Taylorcraft in them.

That yoke with the plastic logo looks like my picture???? I sold those to someone after I found some pretzels for Miss Scarlett.

It probably is your picture. I stea.....borrow lots of photos on the group. Comes in really handy when someone is looking for something.

I do the same, Hank. It just looked like one of the yokes that originally came with Scarlett.

                Hank,
On the photo of three yokes I have the one on the upper left. What was in the center of that flat plate?

                  Re: Need Yokes

On the earlier ones with no padding I don't think there was anything. My youngest Taylorcraft is a 45 so I am no expert on the later models. My 45 has Pretzel wheels with the ball in the middle and a "Taylorcraft" button.

                    Dennis,

On that one, it was plain as in the picture. Later Ferris T-Crafts had that plastic piece attached as in the single photo. That upper left yoke in the picture of three was the plainest one they made, that is why I put the pretzels in as they look better and more vintage, in my opinion.
