I have a 1946 BC12D and I have a miss matched set of glove box handles. Does any one have a matched set of handles for sale?

Are your box doors drilled for a single knob in the center or the wide "pull" with two screws? I made a mold for the wide ones to replace mine but passed it on to another member of the Tribe to make some replacements for his plane.
Post pictures of what you have and hopefully we will hear from whoever has the mold now.

      Hank,

I know from looking at some pictures Joel Severinghaus sent me he had molded some new ones. Was that your mold?
      Cheers,
      Marty

        Re: Glove Box handles

I wish I could remember who I gave it to. I broke one of mine and had to repair it. The drawer pull type tend to break in the middle. When I repaired it I used epoxy and some strands of glass on the underside. I should have embedded some graphite or glass in the mold when I made them.

Let me get ahold of Joel and see if he still has his mold.
          Cheers,

              Re: Glove Box handles

Sorry, Craig. Joel got back with me today and said his molds wore out after several moldings. He got ahold of a good handle, and using supplies from Micro-Mark tools, made some molds.
              Cheers,
              Marty

Look through the cabinet door handles at Home Depot or someplace like that....find a style that is similar....I found a set that lined right up with the hole pattern. Unless you are looking for exact replacement for authenticity...this will work.

I hadn't thought about Home Depot. I will try them and see what they have. thanks for the tip.

                    Re: Glove Box handles

Well, I tried to make a new mold for the long handle and learned I must have used Silicone to make the old mold not Latex. The mold is so "stretchy" it is basically worthless. Anyone else made any new handles? I am going to look around and see if I can find some silicone mold material and try again.
Anyone else have an extra handle? I KNEW I shouldn't have given away all the extras from the last batch.

Hank, let me look, I think I have one original. I will look this weekend, if I do it is yours. L

                        Re: Glove Box handles

That would really take the mold making pressure off. I still need to make a new mold at some time and come up with a better resin to cast them. Every one of the first batch I made and kept broke in the middle. The one I have left broke but glued back together with no crack visible and I laid in some strips of carbon fiber on the inside. That is the one i am using to make a new mold. Whatever resin I use the next batch will have glass or carbon in them.
