    Re: Taylorcraft Baffling

Gee that looks exactly like the one I have. Now I don't have to facilitate that one. On to the front and side ones. I have flat patterns from my old ones. Think, I'll improve them. Thanks barnstormer. TonyL

Here are a couple of pictures that show the under-crankcase baffle. Air is fed to this baffle through the rectangular inlet above the carburetor air intake. Not all closed-cowl Taylorcrafts had this, but those that don't have oil cooling issues on hot days.

Tony - I have access to a large format scanner. If you have items to scan I would be willing to do this. I'll pm you with my mailing address.

Hi Blake. just got your message and address. Give me a couple of days. I made flat patterns from my worn out baffles. I'll trace them full size add the bends send them as a package to you. I won't add the aft one. Barnstormer facilitated that one. This way you can post them for the tribe. I don't have the resources to send them to everybody. Please note, I used .032 thk 2024 T3. Material specs call for .025 to .032. trying to minimize in service cracks. Any rivets s/b ms20470AD - dia.- length. Dia. in 32nds. e.g. -5= 5/32, -4=1/8 etc. I might be able to add it to the patterns. TonyL

When you guys scan these please make sure you put some "Bulls eyes" on the drawings in a 6" or 12" square grid so that when they are printed we will have something to scale from.
With the Bulls Eyes you can overlay some graph paper on the "out of scale" copy and enlarge or reduce it a little to correct it. Most printers are really bad about compressing a little on one axis and stretching it on the other.

Sounds great. Heading out to the drafting supply to get 5 more sets of pre-war "D" window drawing copies. They should go out tonight (OK, stop laughing, I know there is a good chance I won't actually get them to the post office today, but I will try).
