  • Lots of Parts For Sale

    Hello All,

Some of you may have known or met my father, David Liebegott of Classic Magic Aviation. He passed away in November 2009. He left a lasting legacy of fine craftsmanship (both a Gold and Silver Lindy in two consecutive years.) as well as a large collection of parts.

I am beginning to clean out what's there. I have parts for Pipers and Taylorcrafts. Some of them include:

Ailerons, mags, Continental 65's (enough to build 5), tail surfaces, brakes, brake parts, instruments, etc.

I also found 2 Scott 2000 Tailwheels and 1 Maule Tailwheel.

I have 2 trim crank handles too. Nice and chromed.

Email me at trackereml at verizon.net and I'll send you a phone number.

Let me know what you need and I'll see if I have it. The only downside is that the parts are 65 miled from me, so it might take a couple days to get all the info.

    Thanks,
    Erik Liebegott

Re: Lots of Parts For Sale

    Erik,
Have you considered seeing if a group from the tribe could meet you at the location of the parts to lay them out and photograph them? It's an unfortunate fact of life that there are people who will try and take advantage of someone selling estate property when you don't know exactly what you have or what it's worth. The advantage of a group like the Taylorcraft club is we are a tight group and anyone taking advantage of you would be found out quickly (not that I think there is anyone like that in our group, but you may not know many of us). If you post the photos here we can help identify the parts and you are much more likely to get a fair price. When the photos hit the group you will also build more interest from those who want to buy.
I don't want to give a bad impression of the world in general, but I have seen several friends life time collections either thrown away by relatives who thought it was junk or sold for much less than it's true value. At the very least, you could separate the Taylorcraft parts from all the rest.
    Hank

Thanks for the thoughts. I do have a pretty good knowledge of what is there, having worked for Dad for several years. I'm not planning on selling stuff for a fortune, but for what I believe is a fair price. There is truly some "junk" there.

Forrest is coming to visit next week, so we'll start there.

      Thanks,
      Erik

I have 2 sets of wings. One wooden set and one BC 12 D set.

I'm holding off on the wings for a while. They are actually part of a compete DC-65. Forrest gets first crack at that one since it was actually converted from a TG-6.

          I'll keep you in mind.

Sure would be nice for all the TG-6 parts to go to someone who wanted to restore it! What did they use to tow those things anyway?

BT-13 could tow 2 TG-6s and was commonly used.

I am going to see Eric on the 24th. I will sort , estimate, take pictures and all that good stuff. IF indeed it was a TG-6 as we are pretty certain it was then we will try to acquire her. WE still need a front seat from some one for a project here in Ohio. Dick Huish thought he ahd one being built but that fell through. Much discussion on all this at the Fly-In. Another good buddy of David was here ; Bill Pancake.

Is the Foundation considering buying the TG-6? Do we need a fund raising campaign?
