    Re: Wheel pants

I have a 1946 BC 12 D. Would these wheel pants fit my plane? Do they have the simulated seam down the center like the originals?

        Re: Wheel pants

Ralph, I never got a response from the gentleman that has the wheel pants for sale. I don't know how else to contact him. If you can contact him go ahead and purchase them if you want. I had a few questions about if they were replicates of the originals or not.

          Re: Wheel pants

Is there a lot of interest in the tribe about wheel pants? I have a set of glass ones that were on my 45 and a set of original aluminum ones that were on my 41. I also have some of the original brackets and a set of welded ones.
Notice I said "were on". Both sets are stored in my hangar. Just too much of a PITA to keep on the plane. They LOOKED great, but you can't get to the tire valve, you can't inspect the tires on pre-flight, they are heavy (and I'm not small, so gaining a few pounds of useful capacity is nice, fuel is more useful than pretty pants), they collect mud and grass like Dennis the Menace, and EVERY IDIOT IN THE WORLD WANTS TO USE THEM FOR A STEP!
I don't want to sell them since they do look really good at a fly in, but if we have someone who is good with making glass copies close to south east Virginia I wouldn't have a problem with someone making glass (or better yet carbon) copies. They are just sitting on a shelf now.

            Hank,
I bought the advertised wheel pants but unfortunately the brackets are not great. I would like to borrow your welded brackets to make a copy. I'll get with you at the airport.

I hope to be out tomorrow. I also found the trim indicator pieces and will bring them.

A little OT, but Hank & Co. are you based at SFQ? I have gone there a couple of times (usually on bad weather days) to buy that *cheap* VA gas, but haven't seen any Taylorcraft machines around.

                  Josh,
There are at least 3 Taylorcrafts at SFQ but all are in hangars (as is proper!) There is also a Taylor Titch but I don't think that counts. ;-)
Mine is being put back together and the wings are off, the post war is being covered and there is a tandem that is actually flying. The Titch is hanging from the overhead beams in another hangar. Neat little plane. Low wing with a bubble canopy and a VW up front.

Next time you are coming this way give a yell! SFQ also has alcohol free auto fuel.
