Need the Right Front wing strut for a 46 BC-12D..... or?
I hit the engine cover of a tractor parked on the grass taxi way into the hangar.... I had it cleared, I thought, but there was a small swell/ditch on the side of the tractor that made the wing drop and the strut hit the top of the engine cover of the tractor. Not my day.
The A&P said that it requires welding a sleeve over the depression in order to reinforce the strut..... he quoted that "...the strut can not have any indentations/depressions that modify the structure or streamline of the strut...".... structurally sound...
The welding of the sleeve was quoted at over $ 400, including the sleeve, welding and 2 coats of paint on the restored area, which I think is pretty steep.
Any advice or ideas are appreciated.
Thanks Ralph
