  • My T may be for sale

I'm just puting out feelers right now because I am considering moving up to a more capable aircraft . I have several options including a PA12 150, PA18 160, Cessna 150/150 and the biggy a Cessna 185 on 2700 floats . All come with a hanger and are within a 20 minute drive.

If anyone is remotely interested I will discuss further and provide more details
    and pictures.

Keeping in mind my ship is a experimental .

Dont waste your time on the 150/150, they take 3 times as long to get off the ground as my O-200 Tcraft. We have a tail dragger 180hp/150 and when he flipped it on its back, he was wishing he had a cub.... I am pretty sure that I can hang with any 12 or cub out there at gross and burn 2/3 the amount of fuel. Tim

      Hi Tim

The 150 stol aircraft I have been looking at are great performers. They can take quite a load compared to a T and cruise an honest 100mph . They may
take more water to get off but they are a little workhorse. I took off one day next to a 185 and was at 600ft above the lake before he was off. The pilot
of the 185 radioed me to say " holy shit, can that thing climb". The difference here again is that I was lightly loaded, maybe at 1400lb whereas he had a ton of gear aboard ........at least.
Once I iron out and deal with some of my float issues I expect to perform better, hopefully as good as my Tcraft buddies, if not better. The more important issue for me is why when I'm airborne and at cruise I can only
get 75mph while you and others are 95-100mph. After much consultation
and comparison today I think I have a aft c of g issue. I will have to do a
great deal of retesting this coming spring to see what I have obviously
missed. I built my floats and made the rigging based on what the "experts"
suggested, so I may have to revisit and check much of what I considered was the best parameters at the time.
I think I am flying a little nose high, I think a sign of aft c of g . Also if I turn
to the left for example the ship tends to continue in this direction without
control imput. I actually have to hold opposite aileron and rudder which feels
ackward. Anyway, I have a bit of work to do this spring for sure and I would rather keep my little T that took me 7 years to build. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from the old girl.

      Cheers! Robert

I may be interested. I'm looking for a model T that has 85 HP or more. Can you send me some info and pics? Kevin

I cannot send pics unless you give me your direct email address which is not on your profile. I have plenty of pics here at home.
