P-106 1.7oz complete slip cover set for BC-12D. These are PMA covers made before they de-certified 1.7 oz covering for aircraft. A/C Spruce cost is $447 for 2.7 oz slip covers. Selling the complete set for $300 plus shipping.
OK a dumb question; can you use these on a certified aircraft or you limited to an Experimental?
Larry
They can be used on certified aircraft, they have the PMA stamp on the fabric. It is just no longer produced as certified fabric in roll form. John Goldbaum got tired of guys trying to put 1.7oz fabric on airplanes they shouldn't have and then calling him asking Poly Fiber to warranty a problem. The PMA wasn't recalled, just no longer available
On most or all certified aircraft I think it has to have the 2.4/2.7 or heavier to be legal(i.e. 102 or heavier). The 1.4/1.7 is ultralite fabric(103 process). I think even if the fabric has a PMA if you check the process manuals on taylorcraft 102 and 101 are the only approved processes.
I will call Goldbaum and ask him directly since he is the one that wrote the Poly-Fiber Manuals. I know you can no longer buy certified 1.7 oz fabric. If no one want these covers i will be happy to cut them up for interior fabric. i don't use slip covers is the reason i am selling these.
Talked with Jon, said P-106 and HS90X are both still legal. No longer available because they can't get thread anymore that size that will pass certs. Word of advice, don't try using the lightweight stuff on anything that won't qualify for LSA, it wasn't designed to go on a Viking or Fairchild as I have seen the stuff used for and wondered(;f So if you want a good deal of a ship set of fabric, here ya go
HS90X Was used on Leisa-Marie in the beginning, it was not good. Split right down the belly, pulled off leading edges.... They sent new covers for a trade, we had already recovered her at the factory in Lock Haven we took a J-3 set of heavier material.
