  • Landing light needed

This isn't for a my Taylorcraft but I am looking for a Grimes 6" 12volt retractable landing light (working or not, I just need the gear that opperates the slider which moves the bulb housing)for a Fairchild 24 that I am restoring. I believe the Cessna 120's and 140's used the same light. Would really appreciate any leads to find one.

120/140 had a smaller 5 in light rather than the 7 in that was in a 24. I may have an extra here. Give me a call.

Buell: I don't have any information on a landing light, however I did want to visit with you about a "bubble" glass for a compass. I have the original compass that came on my '40, BC-65, NC 29624, but the glass is broken. Someone on the forum suggested contacting you as they thought you had found a source of glass for your project. If this is the case, would you please get in touch. Thanks so much.

The 1948 Ragwing Cessna 170 uses the 6" retractable light. I remember about 15 years ago my dad removed it and put a landing light in each wing because the retractable would work right. I think he still has the complete assembly.I'll find out.

            Kevin,
THANKS! Mike Redpath has a gear he is sending me but if you would sell the landing light for not Toooo much I would really like to buy it. Mine has some more problems that I think if I have 2 I could make one really nice one. I think your Dad was right to replace the light in the 170 because almost everyone that had the old Grimes retractables had problems. In the Fairchild there just isn't a very good way to put a light in the wood leading edge. I plan on making a large inspection plate so that I can remove the light without to much trouble because eventually it will probably need to be worked on.
