  • L2 Cowl and eyebrow parts

After 80 years of storage, My early L2, SN 4063 is nearly finished and ready for final assembly. My major obstacle is the cowling and eyebrow parts. I'm pretty certain that no such parts are available in the universe. I have been working on fabricating my own. I have moderate sheet metal skills. I can make the top and bottom sides of the cowling. So far I have not been able to reproduce the top or bottom pieces of the nose bowl. I know there are artist who can make those parts, but I don't know any of them. Also, I'm not likely to shell out the $5k plus that they will probably cost. ANY SUGGESTIONS? J3 parts are available, but expensive and I don't know if they will fit and I would prefer keeping things original. HAS ANYONE TRIED USING J3 PARTS OR ANY OTHER SOURCE? I also need to replace the eyebrow air scoops for the cylinders. They are complex and probably beyond my skill level. Again, there are J3 eyebrows available from a couple of sources. HAS ANYONE TRIED USING THESE ON AN L2?

    All suggestions are appreciated.

When I restored my BL I had the nose bowls made and built the rest of the cowling myself. I would check with Maxwell Wenglarz and inquire about the cost for just the nose bowls.

You can search Wings metal Works here on the forum. The results have his dad's name, or you can reach out to him through Facebook. He frequents the Taylorcraft group.
