  • Wanted: F-19 insulated cowling cover

I’m curious if anyone would be interested in selling a F-19 insulated cowling cover they may have lying around. I figured I’d check here before going the new route.

    Thanks

One consideration is to instead buy and use an extra large sleeping bag for a cover. That way if you have to spend some time waiting out weather or cold you have a critical piece of survival gear with. Custom fit covers - insulated or not - hold in heat and keep out wind - but then can become just extra baggage. A major source of heat loss is a metal propeller. It'll radiate heat into the wind so cover it well. Slip on covers for the prop can be as simple as a soft fleece gun case or a large sleeping bag fit over the cowl and prop. Tie up loose ends with a wrap of rope or bungie cords.

Edit: Yes oil can affect any cover. In my survival gear is a lightweight nylon tarp probably 8x10 or a bit larger. Can be used to make a quick shelter or first cover an oily cowling and prop. Throw a sleeping bag over that if insulation needed.

Well for me Gary, there would be no way I would be caught laying in an oil soaked sleeping bag, because we all know that everyone washes them regularly...
