Contact I have there from Sun & Fun is Tom O'Neill in their Technical Support Dept. His telephone extension is 124.

I spoke with Tom after the Taylorcraft forum at SNF and he was very interested in hearing what our needs are so that he could make the business case for production of new parts that have as of yet not been easily available. I do not (yet) have an emaill address for Tom, but the general sales contact email is: [email protected]

We started this thread May of 2005, you are the first to respond. Wag Aero needs assurance that we will need parts and use them if they produce them. I have not seen a lot of requests. They have an e-mail from me of our usual requests. I cannot attach it here since I am at the home & it is at the airport office. Soon to be solved if cable guy ever gets here and we network. I am real happy that you got parts from the factory , THAT is how it should be done. more soon , I will call Wag-Aero now.

This is an often overlooked section on this forum....we all flock to the discussion threads. Is it true that Wag Aero has a whole lot more Taylorcraft parts than they let on in the catalogs I get all the time? I always have a copy next to the thinking chair. A good section on Taylorcrafts would help everyone come out of the box and call them for parts.

I have a call in to them. I found out that the phone number on the start of this thread was not correct, it is now. Give it a couple of days and I will get the answers. Yes they have the old Safe-Air stuff and there is stuff there.... documentation I do not know about.

Just a list of things that would be nice to have on hand if t-crafters needed them are landing gears, brake parts, struts, cowlings(top & bottom), cowl hinges, and cowl fasteners. That's just a few of the most wanted and hard to find stuff for reasonable prices.

                Re: Wag-Aero Group

                Forrest,

I am not in the habit of calling a company to beg them for parts or to do business with them. If they have the parts or the capability to produce, they need to make this known. It would only take them a few minutes to search the web and find us and others who are clamoring for parts. A simple search to see the number of registered T-Crafts should also be an indicator for a company to maybe consider they had a potentional customer, (profit maker). Forrest, you have the inside knowledge of who used to make a lot of these parts, but for some of us newcomers it can be a trek into the unknown. If I had known all it would take is a phone call to check stock I would have. I receive the same catalog everyone else does and I don't see the items I need, therefore, I can't do business with them. I am not sure why they, or anyone else, are so secretive. Perhaps it will take a group effort of our members calling these few places and inundating them with parts requests. Maybe as a group we have become too quiet and just use up the used parts inventory from here and there. Instead of waiting for someone to bring a part out we need to make ourselves known. Maybe an official notification from the Taylorcraft Foundation?????............... Thanks for trying to find out Forrest. I will impatiently wait for your findings.
                Cheers,
                Marty

                  Re: Wag-Aero Group

This may be a delicate matter, because we want to support the new Taylorcraft factory to some degree. If we threw ourselves (collectively) at Wag-Aero or Univair, then the Taylorcraft factory would have a reasonable excuse to be a bit upset. However, we also cannot throw ourselves at the factory and turn our backs on other suppliers, because Univair HAS been there when Taylorcraft has not existed.

One possible solution would be a generic letter to all suppliers, including Taylorcraft, setting forth our needs, wants and desires. The expertise needed to do that the right way is to have an accurate estimate of what parts are the most needed, and what parts are the hardest for restorers to make.

This mystical letter would have to say things like "there are an estimated 50 Taylorcraft owners who have an immediate need for landing gear sets at a price of $X to $Y, approximately 75 owners who would purchase lower engine cowlings at anywhere less than $Z, and at least 100 people who would purchase a new front windshield retainer strip for $100" (that's my personal peeve )

The ideal solution would be for our group to collectively steer the factory towards economical production of some higher priced items (because they are hopefully building landing gears all the time and can do it cheaper than Univair), and insure a steady flow of smaller item sales to the other suppliers for things they manufacture at a reasonable cost.

Although it might take some fancy footwork on the part of Forrest and the club as one voice, I think it is do-able to keep both the Factory and Wag-Aero/Univair/ACS, and anyone else happy with us as customers. Having more than one source for anything is VERY beneficial!

From the "Technical resources" area on the home page of this site is a Taylorcraft Factory List of available parts Here Can we get an updat on this from Harry. I need some parts for an 85HP upgrade on a friends' plane and Wag Aero is out of the 11/16" bushings. I found this list while searching for these parts and it is relatively old. I did call the fctory parts guy and I'm awaiting a response.
