    Re: Taylorcraft Parts

Grove (http://vb.taylorcraft.org/showthread...r-tapered-axls) and (http://www.groveaircraft.com/index.html) makes tapered axle to 1 1/2" straight adapters. That might work with Shinn 1 1/2" wheels. Atlee Dodge used to make 1 1/2" tapered axle adapters but they may have been for skis and may not have the inboard mounting flange like Grove. Give them a call.

I have a set of Grove adapters on mine with Field Approved Grove wheels and brakes.

Edit: Print of original Taylorcraft tapered axle and dimensions below.

        Re: Taylorcraft Parts

Some Luscombe aircraft also used the Shinn wheels & brakes...I guess that's an example of what ERichter means? Does he refer to the bearing race diameter (that closest to the cluster)?

For the avoidance of doubt, the bearings that are used on the Taylorcraft B model tapered-axle are:

Large (inner bearing) Timken 08125. The outer race for this bearing is 08231. They can be commonly purchased together, as 08125/08231 https://Timken Imperial Taper Roller...2.3125x0.5781"

The smaller (outer bearing) is Timken part number A6075. The outer race for this bearing is A6162. They can be commonly purchased together as A6075/A6162 https://www.bearingsrus.co.uk/08125-...hoCFgkQAvD_BwE

        Hope that helps,
        Rob

Aeronca used them, Porterfield too, they are rare.
