I figure that many here have sold extra Taylorcraft parts. So my question is how would one determine the value of our parts? I'm getting close to finishing mine and will have many parts available.

Re: Pricing Used Parts
Most of the time trading is a better deal for both sides. If you NEED a stab and don't have one, it is worth a fortune if none are close to you. If you are close to me I will GIVE you one just to get it out of the hangar! They cost more to ship than they are worth......TO ME. Same with ailerons. Tail surfaces and ailerons seem to survive almost any crash or hangar collapse. They are common spare parts, that cost a fortune to ship.
When I was doing my 41 Deluxe I needed the stainless side trim pieces and a big compass. I won't tell you how much I paid for them! WAY more than I should have. After I had the compass restored at a certified shop I had over $1,000 in it!!!
What you need to do is post photos of what you have and what you need to finish your project. What is useless and taking up space for you may be the $1,000 part for someone else. Putting a price on anything depends on who need it, but I WILL say the guys in the tribe are pretty honest and we don't tend to take advantage of each other.

By the way, I bought my compass core from a museum, which is why I ended up paying through the nose for it. They were going to machine it to modify it to look like a WACO compass they needed for a display. Thought I would have a heart attack when they said that!

You can get some new part prices from Wag-Aero or Univair.
If they do not have exact replacement part then look for a similar part for and Aeronca or Piper and use that price.
Last resort is go to the tech section of the forum and look up the part price in the 1985 price list and scale that price up to today's equivalent by the cost of the average home in 1985 to the average home cost of today. If you don't like home costs then do car costs or average salary.
Also you may be done your project but you are not done maintaining. After you get rid of all your extra parts and have to do a repair how will you find the part and what will you be willing to pay then?
Free advice worth at least 3 times what you paid for it.

Hank and Drude you are both correct and I won't be selling everything. But there are only so many doors and tail feathers I will need. One thing I would be interested in trading for would be a good set of wheel pants. Anyone, know of any?
