Wanted - 2 control pulleys for prewar

Hi all - I purchased new ones but found they are thicker and do not fit in the pulley brackets. I'd rather not weld up new brackets if someone out there has 2 of the larger original 3 inch diameter phenolic pulleys I could purchase. These are 5/16-3/8 in thick and the Ralmark replacements are 7/16ths.

I have all of the pulleys out of my post-war '46, (after a swap for ball bearing pulleys), and would be happy to send any if they would fit. Not sure what size you would need.

Where are you trying to put them? I had to shim all of mine with washers. I have some bearings you could put into some old pulleys that are thinner than the Ralmark ones. Tim

Thanks. They are the 3" diameter with a 3/8 hole for bushing and 5/16-3/8 inch thick. The Ralmarks I thought were replacements are thicker. Maybe they work on the post war ok but not on my prewar, apparently.

Basically on any of the 3" diameter stations. But where I hung up was on the 3 pulley bracket that holds the 2 yoke and right rudder pulleys in a unit.

John, unless someone else pops up here with pulleys, I will go to the hangar tomorrow and do some measurements and get back with you.

Mine is a prewar, one of the best upgrades I did besides getting the yoke shafts rechromed. Tim

2X with Tim in my 1940 I replaced all the pulleys with the ones from the Luscombe guy and never looked back send the ones you have back and get them from Doug.will be one of the best $400.00 +/- you can spend.

His original post stated he just wanted a couple of stock pulleys, not the ball bearing ones. Like you guys, I have all of stock ones around doing nothing.

John, I have two good pulleys for you that are within your specs. I will email you when I get home.

I also have all 16 stock pulleys that i would let go.

Thanks everybody. Marty is sending me some so I think I'm all set. But I will consider the ball bearing pulleys down the road. I had read about them in earlier posts but right now, it's not in my budget. Once we're flying, though, I'll reconsider. Thanks again. This group is a great resource.
