    Re: '41 Deluxe yokes

It sounds great and I will absolutely buy two. Only problem I see is where you will find another 99 people to buy two more each.

    The market is REALLY small!

          Re: '41 Deluxe yokes

I talked to a guy today who makes race car parts about making pre-war aileron hinges and bellcrank hinges (will start a second thread).

He has a press that can make the Banjo caps. He has to machine the male and female dies and the caps themselves would be really cheap. Unfortunately the tooling would run about $150. He had made a BUNCH of small oil and fuel tanks with domed ends so I think he has the process down pat. The cost is in the tooling and the Nickel plating. A GOOD quality nickel plate for ONE cap is about $30 or $40. Nice thing is it doesn't cost much more to do a BUNCH of them compared to one if you do them all at once.

If I get the tool made and we do a batch how many of you guys would want new caps. Between the cap I had and the one Ray sent me we have the dimensions down. No commitment until we have the price down, but how many people even HAVE the Banjo wheels?

Probably be a good time to plate the shafts when we do the caps. Group plating jobs save a lot of money. This guy can also make the shafts if we need them.

I would take 4 caps and two shafts if this comes together

OK, so far looks like for the wheel centers Peter wants 2, Ray wants 2, Paul wants 4 and I want 2. Did we miss anyone?

As for welded hinges looks like Jim, TIm, Niri and I all want a set. I am really surprised since I expected LOTS of people would want to get rid of those cast Mag hinges!

I will keep tracking interest so I can come up with a price.

Count me in for one set welded hinges for my BC12-D and one set tacked welded hinges ( I am thinking of building a Tcraft )

                          Hank,

You may want to start a new thread with a corrected title. I don't necessarily read every thread, and as in this case, I don't have prewar Deluxe yokes. Just a thought.
                          Cheers,
                          Marty

I started to in response to the last comment on the new thread but we really need to have it hear not on the other one. I will start a hinge thread and put the data on hinges from this on there with current status on who is interested.

Everyone wanting to discuss aileron hinges let's move to the new thread. ( http://vb.taylorcraft.org/showthread...hinge-fittings )
