I want to replace my airspeed indicator and am thinking of one that indicates from zero...helicopter. Anyone have experience with one?

Yes, they all make a smoking hole in the ground sooner or later. There aren't too many helicopter museums in the world.
Oh, sorry! You mean an airspeed indicator to zero? No, even helicopters don't have those.Last edited by Robert Lees; 03-27-2015, 15:01.

Re: a/s indicator
To be fair, even helicopters don't do an approach at zero; they have to be aware of vortex ring. They might hover close to the ground at zero speed, but only in ground effect.
A few years ago (in my younger & foolisher days) I challenged an R22 pilot to a formation approach. His was 60 kts (for the vortex ring reason) and mine was 50mph in the Taylorcraft. I beat him over a 200' imaginary "obstacle", but he parked his outside the hangar. We both landed on the "H" (not at the same time!)
We called it quits!
