I hate to pay what Univair gets for a new Scott oil temp gage. Mine is dead. Does anyone know of a source of used ones? Is it OK to substitute another brand? N95522 1946 BC12D.

Re: Scott oil temp gage needed
Gerald,
John Wolf & Company, INC. can repair it. Their phone no. is 440-942.0083. Not inexpensive but they do nice work.Last edited by Buell Powell; 07-25-2014, 13:33.Buell Powell TF#476

I would like to remove my panel and repaint. The wrinkle paint has come off in several places, exposing the zinc chromate primer ('Green vomit' to airplane builders). I would enjoy cleaning it up and priming and painting it. Don't too much look forward to removing all the instruments, mag switch, and control wheels but I may do it anyway.

Gerald,
If you are going to go through that much work, (I did), have it powder-coated. They do wrinkle-black, too. My gloss black panel looks fantastic and you won't have to worry about re-doing it later.Cheers,
Marty

Google aircraft salvage yards for more choices. These are just the four I know a little about.

Re: Scott oil temp gage needed
For any guys who have broken U.S. GAUGE Oil temps please don't trash them! Those who want original panels will pay the high price to rebuild one (much more than the cost of a Scott or Rochester new). The cores are getting hard to find, ESPECIALLY the ones with the Taylorcraft logo on them!

Something else you might want to make sure of is that the bulb taper of the new gauge matches the seat taper in the adapter if a new adapter doesn't come with it.Last edited by Buell Powell; 07-26-2014, 16:56.Buell Powell TF#476
