I am thinking about selling my Taylorcraft. It has the 85 horsepower conversion with the B&C generator and has been owned and hangared for the last 25 plus years by a good friend of mine, who is also an A&P mechanic. I know that it has been taken care of. I am currently having a new ICOM radio installed in her. I would take 15,000 plus the cost of the new radio. approx. 800 dollars, I bought her with the intention of finishing out my flying career in her, but between my back and knee surgeries, I think that I will need a bigger plane if I am to continue to fly.

Re: 1946 bc12d/85
Hi Ryan, I am embarrassed to tell you that I really don't know. I bought the airplane just a couple weeks ago. The plane is hangared in Portland Or. Iam down in Tempe Az. right now. I have known the plane and owner for many years and I have flown it in the past. It is a great little performer. I bought the plane basically sight unseen when it became available. I was really hoping to enjoy it for many years to come but the last few days I have come to the conclusion, that I need something larger with my back and knee issues. I plan on picking it up after the radio is installed and flying it down to Phoenix. If you would like I can send you all the pictures then.

Well. I just picked up another bird, but I suggest these aircraft to students of mine all of the time and I know of a guy who ought to swap a plane like this for his Vagabond.

Re: 1946 bc12d/85
I don't know why Tom would question how complete the log books are no my plane! They are all current and well documented. This man must have really burned at one time, or is just naturally cynical. I do not appreciate someone who would question my honesty, without a reason. Roy

Roy,
I know Tom personally and he is not cynical, he is a great guy and extremely knowledgeable with these airplanes. I think he was talking about your plane, not the Vagabond. The people on this forum don't act like that and in my opinion you need to re-read this thread and perhaps apologize. Sorry you misunderstood the comment.Cheers,
Marty

I just re-read the posts and also the one that I think you are referring to.
I am not even sure what plane Tom is referring to in that post since a few have been mentioned. I didn't take the comment as negative.
Just my take on it but I don't think there was any slur there.

Re: 1946 bc12d/85
Hi all,
This is my opinion and I have said it before I think.
When someone posts an item for sale ad we should not be turning it to discussion of anything other than the item that is being offered for sale.
I think that is the courteous thing to do. Who of us wants to place an ad to sell something and then have other folks publicly comment on it, offer judgement, offer similar items for sale, start to tell their life story, give advice on other things to purchase instead...
Most of us will find that annoying. I doubt that anyone wants that.
I know this is a forum, a place for of any value great or small. Yet it seems to me that it is more nearly gracious to just leaves the ads alone and let the actual potential buyers communicate with the seller and no more.
Give the guy a chance to sell what he has. If we have comments make them privately.
And yes I just broke my own rule by saying this here.

Re: 1946 bc12d/85
Well, after Roy having six posts on the Taylorcraft Forum I am not sure he should jump to the conclusion that someone who has been involved in this forum for over eight years is being cynical, etc. Perhaps Roy had a bad experience on another forum and feels defensive.
We all comment on things we probably shouldn't, but still do. We re-direct threads greatly from their original intent all the time. None of us are 'supposed' to make comments on the Taylorcraft Registry threads but we still do. I doubt we are going to change now, though Dave's comments are valid. I just came away from the comment with a bad taste in my mouth as I know Tom and his dad and I wish I knew everything they had forgotten about these airplanes, let alone what they do know.Cheers,
Marty
