It's going back on an L-2M that previously had leather covers. I don't know all the specs. If it originally had the other style, then maybe we should return it to that, but I need to make sure it fits / works, etc... For now I'd just like to replace the leather covers that dried up and became worthless while this bird had some TLC done to repair it.

My L-2 had vinyl covers because the original restorer used the wrong landing gear, more along the lines of a Cub than L-2. If you have L-2 gear, it will be set-up for the correct covers. I believe I have a pair of covers, I will have to look later. No L-2 that I know of came with leather covers.
there is a stud on each side of the bungee support that should have winged tab bolted to it. that is the mount for the plywood covers. There is two covers, plywood part is the same but the opening for the closed end for the strut to pass through will be two different sizes depending on whether it has a streamline tube or round tube strut. later airplanes, mostly "M" should have round strut, but could have earlier streamline if they have been changed in the past
