After eight years of hard work, my dream was finally realized on Sunday, January 24th, 2010. For the first time in over 30 years, N50454 was back in the skies. The weather wasn't perfect, but I was anxious to get the first flight over with. It was a cloudy and windy day in South Florida with winds gusting up to 20 knots. Needless to say, ground roll was nonexistent and I was in the air before I had the chance to scan all of the instruments. I made a quick overflight of the airport and landed right back. The plane flew beautifully! Since then I have had the opportunity to fly in much better weather, and I have logged a total of three hours.
This would not have been possible without the help and advice from the members on this board. I would like to specifically thank to Terry Bowden, from Certified Aeronautical products, Ron Greene, Dick Huih Forest Barber and Greg Dalcranian who were especially helpful in my time of need. It was not an easy project, and it took a lot longer than I initially anticipated. Maybe that's what makes the final product so satisfying.
