  • L-2 Colors

Where can I find the which military units used the L-2 (Army,Navy,Marines) and what color schemes they used?

I have on in the oven and am beginning to think of colors. I have only seen yellow and OD so far.

    Re: L-2 Colors

Paul, I went through that many years ago. There were no squadrons of L-2s. What were sent overseas were used as replacement aircraft. Most of them left the factory painted OD upper and neutral gray under the wings and horizontals. The shock struts weree gray but the lift struts were OD. I'm not positive but I believe the L-2Bs used in the states were done in silver. I know the TG-6s were silver. The break lins between the colors on the fuselage were done at the lower longerons and were not masked but blended. If you have any other questions feel free to call me at 330-568-7084. Dick

I have a picture somewhere of a razorback L-2 that was solid OD. The civilian "D" models I believe were blue fuselage and yellow wings.

Mike, as you may guess, I have several color photos farom factory brochures of the DC-65 and mine is near authentic except the yellow fuselage arrow is a bit off and the tail numbers are not the right size.
