  • Wing Lift Strut

Today, just about the worst thing imaginable happened. I bent the hell out of my left wing lift strut (front one) on my L2M. It is ruined.

I have spent the day online and on the phone trying to find a replacement with no luck. Univair appears to no longer be making them, but I have not given up on them yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find a replacement!!!!

      Nick,

Sorry for the anxiety & loss.

      Consider repairing it.

Its accepted and very likely doable.

      Do you have any pictures?

      Dave.

There was a thread on here not to long ago about Univair making new ones again with no paperwork. How long ago did you talk to them and more importantly who did you talk to?

I e-mailed him, I asked him mention that he MIGHT except an "owner produced " part from Univair. I am working with him, Wag-Aero too, they are about two months from PMA. I might part with one from here. I do mentioned repair for now and go fly. IF the strut is that bad the rest of the ship needs inspected too!

            Re: Wing Lift Strut

Actually Univair ended up coming thru. First guy I talked to thought they wouldn't be interested, but he called me back yesterday and said they actually had two that would be finished being built early next week. I ordered both of them and will eventually sell my good one. They are supossed to ship mid-next week. Just for your info, they were $1,000 ea. (OUCH), but I was afraid they might not be an "exact" dup of my original right side. The odd thing is that they told me that they recently built 6 of the struts and with my purchase they have now sold them all. It seems as if there might be a market for them!!!!

At $1000 each, I will start building them.
