cowling question

L2 folks

i have question i am hoping someone can answer
My l2m is a 1943 but has an open cowl, and i have a friend in Germany with a L2m that also has an open cowl
Did they make an open cowl M or is this a change someone made previously

also is the open cowl interchangeable with the cub nose, it sure looks similar

"M" never had an open cowl. Someone changed it.

No it is not interchangeable with a cub. Completely different including the cylinder baffles
