I have a few hours in the L-3 and L-5. The L-3 with the A-65 engine was placarded as having a service ceiling of 7500 feet. Underpowered! With the radio boxes installed and an observer on board it was just plain heavy. When a C-90 was put on this plane it became a nice flier... still heavy on the controls but flew like a heavy Champ.
