  • Reforming Cub Driver in the process of buying an L-2A

    Hi All,

I am new to this forum and wanted to take some time and introduce myself. My name is Max Platts, and currently my wife and I are in the process of purchasing an L-2A project.

My wife and I both cut our teeth flying J-3's and now work for CubCrafters and fly Carbon Cubs and the new XCub quite a bit.

We are looking to get back to our roots and get back into flying old airplanes and the L-2 seems like a perfect match for us.

We are looking at getting an L-2A project and have been working with its current owner. The Taylorcraft c/n is 4282 and I believe that the USAAF number is 42-15155. I am looking to find any information on this particular aircraft that would aid in the restoration. I would like to make it as true to original as I can so any information would help us greatly.

Thank you in advance and I look forward to joining in the conversations on this forum!

Hi Max, and welcome. I am not sure what happened to our membership, they are usually a friendly group of guys and after 45 views I would think someone would have chimed in by now. Maybe because the word 'Cub' was typed too much in your intro, .

Anyway, I am sure the guys will step up when you need help. Again, glad to see you come over from the dark-side. Lol!
    Cheers,
    Marty

Welcome Max...you're not that far from me, over here in the NW corner of MT. I used to haul hay and straw from Yakivegas to Western WA. Can't wait to see your progress on the L2!

            Thanks all,

We are still progressing with our deal on the L-2A. Hoping in the next couple of months we will have the project in hand.

Looking forward to keeping you all up to date!

I just posted the same 2 on the Tcraft Facebook page again....he's asking $15,000 for both of them.

                Hi John,

I have been watching those projects. Pretty good deal.

The one we are looking at has rebuilt wings and is covered through silver with a C85. The extra horsepower will be good in the Pacific Northwest.
