  • L2 Frame Jig design

Has anyone designed a frame jig for a major frame straightening? I'm about to start, but I'm working off of very little information (Unfortunately I've received no responses to my requests for CDs with the drawings). I've got a broken right main gear mount and a bent tail so it's going to be hard to get it perfect without some help from either the drawings or some measurements from a straight frame.

Any drawings or specifications of the frame would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

You might just measure the distance at the gear fittings and weld it back in. There are a bunch of wierd gussets in this area, I just put a right gear back in. If the tail is torn off it might be harder. Anything bent just cut it out. Support the tail any way you can, wood 2/4's screwed together works good. Brace it real good. Keep the tail post straight and the stab attach at the proper angle. It's not as tough as you think. It doesn't have to be perfect, the factory wasn't, just be able to rig it out. Anything over 1/4" out of plumb is pushing it.

        Kevin,

I thought I had an old post showing my rib construction but it might have gotten lost in the server crash. Here are some pics of the set of ribs I built. I used a router to duplicate the plywood pieces. It worked much better than I thought it would and I only flung one piece across the hangar;-) I can provide more details when you get to that stage.

I used the same jig for the all the full length and aileron bay ribs. I had a separate one for the tip ribs.

          Greg:

I purchased a L2M and I need to rebuild the wings. I have been looking for a pattern for the ribs and I see you done this. Do you have drawings or patterns that I can get from you?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
