  • BC12D Restoration

I've started the restoration journey-N95359, a 1946 BC12D with an A75. The wings and tail feathers are off. I've removed the old fabric from the stabilizer, elevator, one wing and aileron. The stab and elevator have been cleaned up and inspected. I've pulled the doors off and the cowling pieces to strip, clean, etch and prime. I've pulled the old panel and bought a new one from David Wenglarz (who was at Oshkosh). It's beautiful.

After visiting Oshkosh and speaking with all the good fabric folks (and taking a class), I've elected to go with the Stewart System for covering and finishing. The water borne technology solves alot of problems and many people have had good things to say about the Stewarts and the products. So far, all I've used are the metal prep stuff (stripper, cleaner, etch and ecoprime). No smell!

I'll start the recover process on the smaller pieces at home next week. The wings and fuse will be done at my A&P/IA's airport-business.

So far, so good. Everything looks to be in great shape with no corrosion or spar damage. The plane came with the old struts and a brand new set from Alaska. I have a set of skis that I'll sell to help finance a part of the recovering materials. I'm trying to document all work in KitLog and by taking copious amounts of photo's.

How about a link to Kitlog. Not familiar with that.
