  • New Taylocraft

    Hi,
I just joined the Foundation as I've also just purchased a 1946 BC12D. I don't have it yet; it's a flyable project and I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions as we begin to clean it up.
    Regards,
    Dan

    Welcome to the Tribe Dan.
Somewhere amongst the tribal knowledge is the answer to nearly any question you can think of. We are looking forward to photos, N number, serial number, and where the plane is/was
    Best Regards,
    Mark Julicher

It's a 1946 BC12D, N95359-serial number 9759. It's a plane that was listed on Barnstormers and hails from Vermont. I'm working out the best way to get it back to Michigan-ferry pilot or ground transportation. I'm also working throught a title issue....the original $2600 lien from 1946 hadn't been removed so we're working through that.

I had to take care of a lien like that on a Cub that I had. It cost me about $800 to get it done. Tom

Though my liens only went back to the early 60's, we had great luck with the banks in getting the paperwork. All of the liens my current plane had were taken care of, it was just a paperwork issue and no charges incurred. Banks change hands over the years and that is the hard part in finding out who they are now.
          Cheers,
          Marty

In my case the lein holder could be traced up into the eighties, and then the corporation quit filing paperwork. The owner before me had done quite a bit of research, but had no luck in getting it run down. I had to hire a lawyer and have a judge remove the lein.

Just as a "thread closure" the seller was able to contact the new bank and get the lein released. It took a bit of work, but as I understand it, banks aren't allowed "to go out out business"; there must be some sort of legal paper trail/ownership. The new mega bank signed off on the lein with the FAA and the 66 year old cloud has been removed.
