  • Spar Strut fitting bolt hole sizes

The rear spar strut fittings on my 41 have two hole sizes and I'm wondering if this is how it's supposed to be. I've attached a photo of the fitting. The two holes that also go through the compression rib are 1/4 inch as I expected (nearest the large lightening hole), but the other two holes are 5/16 (opposite sides horizontally from the lightening hole). Does anyone know if they were all supposed to be 1/4 inch? Did someone drill two of the holes oversize?

The other wing is identical with two 1/4 and two 5/16 bolts.

The front spar has all 1/4 inch holes. That's why I'm suspicious.

    thanks,

    John

I'm just over in Logan if you would like to take a look at my pre-war wings and strut fittings.
