I Made a general post on this and got no replies so will try here. I am restoring 1938 BC50 N21261 and I need serviceable or repairable shoes for one side. These were apparently used on Model A and also B in 38 and 39. They adjust differently than later models and the wheels are narrower also. Skybound is kinda vague about repairing my one set but assure me they have to have the adjusters to make a new set for the other side. Can anybody help?

Lou: I have a rough set of 3/4 wide brakes off our '39 NC22211. There are parts missing, but more than enough to build up one brake. If you're interested, I can dig them out, let you know what all is there. Regards, Bob Coolbaugh

Rob - Forrest and I are both second generation T-Crafters and I have known him since childhood. His dad was a test pilot and mine was a mechanic both before and after WWll. We haven't made up a list of missing stuff to dig for yet yet but will be going over one soon. Forrest is very helpful and quite a repository of information for guys to tap into.

Hi Rob, and I am the third generation Whitaker. Lou is my Dad. Here is a picture of his Dad, Lou Sr. cranking a '38 or '39 BL on the line at Taylorcraft when it was brand new. Also a picture of the Hatz CB-1 my Dad built, while I was a teenager and out discovering girls! It probably helped him keep his sanity....

Those narrow brakes were a new one for me, I am finding prints. Lou's Dad and my Dad were in the "dope" business in 1946 ..... There are many tales here. Lou is the fellow who provided the take home awards all these years.... I just got two awards to copy from 1972? short field take -off and landing won by Ed Hillman. Wow I did not even remember taht day.
thanks Lou & Dave and taht Brit for thinking of me. It has been a hell week or three around here, many deaths , light is back at the end of tunnel . We fly Young Eagles again this week-end plus a Chili cook-off.
