  • Windshield tube welded tabs

The two outer-most windshield tubes on my March 46 BC12D have little welded tabs (as per the attached photo) that the bootcowl just seems to rest on. Although there is a hole drilled in each, there is no attachment to any sheet metalwork. Any ideas on how the proper use of these tabs is intended? Or whether my photo shows similar alignment to yours?

    Boot Cowl Tabs

    Robert,
My '41 also has the tabs and the boot cowl is attached to them with PK screws. It has alway been that way since I have owned it. Before I got it, it was last apart for recover in 1950. So I feel that the airplane was pretty original when I got it. Still even had the cardboard instrument dash cover.

PK screw go in before the instrument dash cover goes on, so they are below that. Later

      Cowl Tabs

      Robert,
A little more fuel for the fire. The cowl tabs on my '41 DeLuxe and my "40 Trainer have the boot cowl tabs located on the inner two tubes above the gas tank, aft of the filler neck
