  • Stiff Gear- Normal?

My 40 BL-65 recieved new bungies during its refurbishement and since this is the only T-craft I've ever flown, I'm wondering if it is normal for the gear to be so stiff. I've really dropped it on a few times and I dont think it even moves. Before I really start looking into this, can you guys characterize the airplanes as "stiff" or "soft"?

I would say fairly stiff. At least until the bungees start to give some, and then you will be approaching replacement time fairly quickly.

Forrest always stated to rock the wings, (at the outer strut fitting), and if the tires come off the ground as you rock it, it is good. In other words, very stiff.

Someone once did some research on different bungee part numbers and put a camera to record the movement. The movement was very little.

They were on the airplane when purchased. The only thing I DO know is that they are there and look new. After the first few flights I had to look to make sure there were bungies wrapped around the gear instead of lengths of chain.
