  • Doing c-85 up grade, how to you know if the header tank fuel valve is right one.

The valve that I have, has 3/8 pipe thread at both ends, the valve inside diameter is 19/64 in. the same inside diameter that the an fitting has.

    Jerry,

According to the service bulletin from Gilberti Aviation dated Jan 17, 1962, the valve required by STC SA1-210, which is the STC now owned by Terry Bowden on this forum, is Imperial valve No. 108-HD-3/8" or equivalent valve with 3/8" ports. I think the key thing is the part about the equivalent valve. I am sure if you get in touch with Terry, he could tell you which valves meet the requiremenet for being equivalent. If your current valve is for 3/8" diameter tubing, there is a good chance it will work, but I would check with Terry and your IA. This is one of those areas where you REALLY want to double and triple check for the correct set up. As always, I for one would appreciate hearing more about which valves meet the requirement for equivalency.

I have the information you need on the valves, Terry has the STC for the engine conversion, but a new PMA'd valve has never existed since the 1970's unless someone had one on the shelf. I can send you a pic of what you need if you PM me your email. Tim
