  • Yoke attachment

In a 12D I'd like to ask what actually holds the yoke to the shaft. I took out all 6 screws and the two halves of the hub didn't separate. But they've been painted over as a unit so may be stuck. But I see what might be a pin in from the bottom of each half and staked. My replacement yokes don't have such a hole for pins.

    Thanks, Ron

I am guessing you have the pretzel yokes?

I'm pretty sure the pins are taper pins. Very difficult to remove. If you can. weld on to the pin with a TIG welder until you have enough to grab with a pair of vice grips attached to a slide hammar. Brace the yoke hub against an immovable object and give it a shot.

If your replacements came from E-bay or Univair, you'll probably have to bush the hub to fit your shaft. The new holes must match the old ones exactly and the shaft, bushing and hub together get reamed with a tapered reamer to fit the new taper pin, AN385-4-10
