  • 1939 Model B Wing Spars

Is there a factory drawing which states exactly the dimensions for the front and rear spars? We have disassembled the wings for spar replacement due to mouse damage. Measuring the 3 wings we have on hand, all three sets of spars mic out slightly different sizes. This is probably due to any number of reasons, but we'd like to see some actual factory numbers for lenght, width and thickness if they are available. Might as well start the new spars out right! Thanks, Bob Coolbaugh

    Bob,
I will take a look at home tonite to see if I have anything with this info on paper. It is possible that one of the early service letters may have this.

Will you be at Blakesburg? We're heading out in the morning in NC22207 s/n 1145. (Must be only a few #'s away from yours). Looks like we may be bucking questionable weather part of the way.

Northern IL (3 Tcraft hours NE of Blakesburg) to Lagrange in 2004. Took 14 hours against a stiff headwind. Great trip though, if you have the time...

Wish I could be there at Blakesburg, but can't make it this time.

I delivered an "ACE" model to Jacksonville FL from OKC years back. Should have taken 1 VERY LONG 14 hour day, we left at daybreak. It took 4 days, due to afternoon thunderstorms, and 2 mag failures along the way. I still logged 14hours by the time we got there. That trip sucked.

Lets get back to the thread guys. I too am interested as I have a "41" that needs new spars and but get funny measurements due to varnish. Any guidence on how to get an acurate mesurement.
