Engine mount installation

Upon removal of the engine, we noticed some kind of material between the engine mount and the firewall. Looks like some kind of thin gasket material to prevent chaffing to the firewall. Any recommendations if it is actually required and what can we use to replace it?

It maybe chromate putty, I didn’t use any on any that I have done.
